Lattice is a series of releases from Mesh inviting producers to untether themselves from convention whilst offering limitless space for sonic exploration. A constantly expanding archive of creativity, each release carves a new chapter in the ever-shifting contours of electronic music. More than a compilation series, each entry constitutes a conversation between artists of differing perspectives, refracted through a kaleidoscope of references.
For the third instalment, Mesh invites a wide range of collaborators, from label regulars to new faces, for a fusion of future club and abstract experimentalism alike.
Budakid - the alias of Dutch producer Kevin Huizing - opens with a crystalline meander through the half light, gradually swirling into maximal trance-influenced crescendos and euphoric glides.
Leaning into glitchier territory, London-based composer Drum & Lace offers a richly layered, indulgent swarm of melodic inflections and vocal fragments, drawing inspiration from nature. With Marmo (Italian for marble), percussive elements stem from field recordings of limestone—a foundational rock for marble—while layered vocals mirror the veins that run through its slabs, intertwining and diverging. The track captures the wonder of something coveted forming from the often overlooked.
The Knot dives straight into the subaquatic midnight zone, with swirls of percussion driven forwards by fluid synths and melancholic bursts.
Istanbul-based artist Non Square - who appeared on the first Lattice release, and a recent solo EP on Mesh - lays down some angular half-time drums brought to life by a malfunctioning robot on ‘Definition Transcendence’.
Rounding things off, Mesh mainstay Rob Clouth journeys into a percussive core with an upbeat dose of dancefloor hedonism that sits between microhouse and electroclash, but ends up somewhere far less familiar.
